Guess it almost goes without mentioning, but Bronco seats are a good candidate. Maybe at least get the bases for the seats out of a Bronco of the same era, and bolt buckets of your liking down to them. The floor mounts for the Bronco match the contour of the pickup floor. One side note though, if you are a "fuller figured" Ford enthusiast like myself there is a lot less room with the Bronco buckets than the bench seat. My 84 F150 had Bronco seats in when I got it, but without tilt wheel I barely fit in. Hated to take 'em out, but didn't find a tilt column to my liking yet.
Some trucks and most Broncos came with dual captains chairs with a seperate center console. My `86 F150 came with a bench. My friend`s 84 has the captains chairs.I got ahold of a rusted `86 Bronco and just switched the front seats with mine.On the driver`s side, the 2 left holes lined up and I had to drill the two right holes. On the passenger side you need to drill 3 holes as only the front right hole lines up.These seats also recline, but that`s only useful in an ext-cab like me.I never drilled holes for the center console because it contours to the floor and stays in place pretty good,so Ileft it removable,it has cup holders too, very useful.Got alot more off of that Bronco and ended up selling it to a friend for $150,paid $200 for it before I took what I needed.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Dec-01 AT 10:18 PM (EST)]on swaping seats I put a set of Bronco seats in my 86' f-150 and it took about an hour and I was done. All you have to do is drill afew holes. But if your handy with metal it is very easy to put seats from anything in your truck. I put power bucket seats form a 90' cougar into my brothers 80' f-150 and 84' lincoln seats in my buddys bronco. The possibilities are endless find a seat you really like.
