so i was selling off my stuff for my move to hawaii and this guy came over to buy my memory foam topper (side note-4" of memory foam is amazing)...he shows up in a bronco and we start gabbing about how great the trucks are...he shows me what he's done with his and i really like one of his ideas...right above the door on both sides he installed handicap bars to help get in and out of the truck...you know...the ones that you would usually see in bathrooms or showers...something like this:
about 15-18" long...it really does help...he says he just screwed it right into the roof with no problems at all...my question is...what is up there...between the inner lining and the roof...any wires you need to worry about? once my truck arrives...i think i will put these in
What a super idea. The only thing I can think of that might be detrimental is the headroom clearance for ingress/egress on 6' + tall people. I know a guy who used the stainless handicap grab bars on his short wheel base bed after the toolbox as he couldn't find another bed sidebar at the time. Worked great.
I've been thinking in doing something like that but on the front post like the ones on the newer F150 or Expeditions in front of the door.
As is just an idea I haven't start to unscrew things and check how this can be done.
I was waiting to find something like the handicap bars (never thought about them) but I will need something shorter.

Has somebody done something similar?
I used 6" gate handles you can find them in any hardware store works great
above the door and on front post.
you know...that's why i'm asking...i tugged pretty hard at it and it didn't even budge...of course...i'm only about a buck eighty but hey...it seemed to work...
