I have been contemplating where to go after i finish up auto tech at the community college. i have narrowed it down to dadc(denver auto and diesel college) and wyotech, which are both just a couple hours away from home. i was mostly wondering if anyone here has been to either of them.
i am wanting to do deisel and high performance automotive
this is what i have observed
-dadc seems a little more desperate for students
-dadc is cheaper, but last 16.5 months instead of wyotechs 9
-as far as i know, wyotech is much better known and respected
-i personally consider wyotech to have a better (more impressive) campus
-i can almost garentee that wyotech is in a better community, with more to do as far as trucks, four wheelers, and other toys go.
-for me at least, i think that the female situation would be better off in laramie
I would request a tour and to speak with the faculty of each. the big thing is you get out what you put in,so while there get all the knowledge/training you can. I attended ITT many years ago. Also if they have a degree see if it is accreditted or will transfer in case you ever decide to further your education.
I would go to wyotech you are so lucky to live by there I would be there in a heart beat instead of the community college that im doing my automotive training.
both have high rates for job placement. i took the tour of dadc, they seemed more like they were desperate for students. im gonna see if i can get a wyotech tour over spring break
I have heard endless good things about Wyotech. I have been told by a Wyotech recruiter that they have 97% placement rating for auto and 100% for diesel as of this past session.
I took a tour of Wyotech last summer. It's a great school. They mail you all possibly job openings right before you graduate and after. They keep doing this until you get a job and tell them to stop. They said they have a 90somethin% job placement.
I went to The University of Northwestern Ohio. I have known many people who either went to Wyotech or UTI or at least considered both, and they said that UNO was the best school in the country thats why they came here. 1 guy from S America was there too. But since Ohio is far from CO I guess Wy Tech would be the best choice, I have applied at four places and got job offers from all of them, but I decided to move to NY, and I have a job waiting for me, they even moved out a paint booth to make room for me and give me a bay to work in, and I talked to them once via e-mail. I guess the school and my GPA counts for something huh? http://www.unoh.edu/
I am also a student of the university of Northwestern Ohio. I last year thought about where to go and i was sold on UTI and I was going to attend. I will tell you all these good schools cost some serious money. Heres some thoughts! Just because wyotech is months doesn't mean theres less to be done it means you go to school many hours a day. I know at UTI it was going to be 30 hours a week. Oh yeah theres homewrk in automotive boys!
The only complaint I have heard about wyotech is that they are very professional and you must be clean shaven and all that good jazz. I think wyotech is the most respected or that they have the biggest name. I have heard that UTI students are jerks. I don't like their high performance classes because they mess with 350 chevys in tbuckets only from my understanding. A former student posted on here that he went there it said it was crappy.
I didn't go because they cost would have been tremendous. I came with a friend of mine out to UNO. The school seems good. I am taking high performance automotive with associates degree. This school has engine and chassis dynos and its own race track. The school is growing rapidly and is building a new high performance building that will include new classes and such. UNO also provides students with job placement during and after school. I will agree that UNO is located in a crappy town but theres nothing I can do about that.
I talked to buddy of mine a couple of weeks ago about what he was doing after going to UTI. He works at a tranny/exhaust shop and I told him I thought after going to UTI he should be able to get a better job and he said " you think you know everything and then when you get out you find you don't know ****". Attendence is more important at an automotive school than any other. I recommend going every dang day.
I am not saying anyone should go to one school or another but whichever you choose its best to learn as much as you can. As someone said you get out of it what you put in.
