Installing a Tach

I've read the other threads about installing one.

I went to the junkyard today and the first truck i looked in had the whole cluster sitting in the front seat. It had red circuit print and a tach.

I bought the tach for 16.50 but not the cluster. I put the tach in and got power from the cigar lighter(not permanent) hooked the B to the positive and the G to the negative. I then hooked the C to the dark green wire in the dash harness. But it doesn't work.

So i even ran a wire directly to the dark green wire on the coil and still nothing. I might go back and get the printed circuit but could the tach not be good? These guys are really good about returns and swappin it out for another one.

What should i do?

Return it. It was on the seat for a reason.

I just took the tach and circuit paper when I got mine, I forgot to grab the speedo though, for the trip odometer. It comes in handy when your fuel tank floats dont float. I just swapped the paper, and put in the tach, and everything worked.

i'm going back in about an hour with my brother and a buddy to go get one that works and the printed circuit. I don't want a trip odometer so i'm gonna leave that.

I'm also gonna get the resistor for the heater blower so i have more than one speed
