sonax valve...will it help?
hi guys. i need alittle advice. i have a 97 7.3 with 120k. the o/d light was flashing and gave a trans slip code. i reset it and it has stayed off while driving it around a bit. i have stopped driving it until i can get the time to change the trans fluid and the filter. i remember back a few months ago reading a thread about the sonnax valve kit. i cant remember too much about it. but i was wondering what the advantages or disadvantages there are...i remeber to install u have to drop the valve body so while im doing the filter this would be a good time to do it. im not really looking for more performance just to help it last as long as i can..any inputs helpful..thanks

The sonnax valve will help firm up your shifts, and in theory should help your tranny live longer due to reducing slippage. BUT - if you've already got a flashing OD light (which is basically like a service engine soon light for the tranny) then I'd suggest you get it looked at and fixxed up right. I don't think that it would hurt to put the sonnax valve in - but it won't fix whatever problem it is that you already got.
