Question How To Determine H.P./ Torque Increase

Anyone have suggestion on how to determine change in HP or Torque after installing new air intake ? I do not have access to a dyno. I have 5.4 3V . Thanks in advance for your help !

A dynomometer is the only way to measure gains.

There are those computer things that you can put in your car that measures HP, lap times, acceleration etc. etc. but those are only acceleraometers are not completely accurate when measuring HP/Trq.

Acceleration tests done by YOU on a deserted stretch of road can help give you an idea of gains made by the intake. But they still won't measure torque gains.

I've used a designated set of telephone poles up a mountain for my test. I use a stopwatch to test with. But obviously the best method is dyno.

In the past I've used designated telephone poles and a stopwatch UP a mountain. I would take the average time and mph before and then test after.

However, the best method is dyno if you can find one near you.

While trying to grow up in my younger days when I always had a CJ Mach 1 or Boss Mustang . We had the 1/4 mi. marked off outside of town( telephone pole to the bridge). Everytime I am out there I think about how lucky we were that nobody got hurt. Also , how I got beat by a 69 Chevelle . He pulled it off his drag race trailer to run me so I did'nt feel too bad. I wish I had that one to do over again ! Anyway , I might sneak out there with a stop watch . I will let you know. Thank you for all for the input .
