Been a while since Ive been on.
Friday (Feb, 11) I left for Ruidoso, NM for some good ole' snowboardin.
Got there friday night bout 1130 and it was pouring rain, means snow on the mountian . Friday and Saturday they had gotten 14 inches of snow! We got our board waxed and headed up the mountian. Sunday was awesome with the fresh powder. We snowboarded Sunday-Tuesday and took a break on Wednesday and went trout fishin'. Then Thursday headed back up the mountain for one last day of fun. It was freaking great. It was sunny the first 3 days and Thursday it snowed. I only wear thermals and a hoodie and my snowboardin pants, so Thursday when it snowed my hoodie was soaked. It got a little cold but I was havin too much fun to notice.
Ive got a few stories to tell if yall are interested, Ill try and post them later if ya'll want me too. I gotta go unpack now.
Oh yeah!
On Tuesday during lunch I went into the ski shop up on the mountain cause they were having a huge sale and I needed a new board. 4 years of trees and other stuff will tear the board up, plus It was getting too short. Well I went in and found a great deal on a new board . There was a K2 Access 153 that was priced at $400 but I got it for $220! Took the old bindings off my old board and put them on the new one right there in the store and used the new board for the rest of the time. Man is that a faaaaaast board
Glad you enjoyed my home town. It sure is nice up there when they get alot of moisture. New Mexico is having near record levels of rain in most parts of the state for jan and feb.
I really like Riudoso! About 8 years ago my wife and I were looking to take a vacation. We knew we had a kid on the way and also knew it would be several years before we were able to take another "real" vacation. Being the geek that I am, I used the power of this newfangled (at the time) search engine called Google to help find a spot. I typed in something like "Cabin" "Woods" "West" and it came up with someplace that rents cabins up in the mountains of Riudoso. I'd never heard of the place nor had we ever traveled out west (we were in Virginia at the time), but nevertheless I booked a cabin online, cashed in some airmiles and we flew to Albequerque and rented a car and drove there, visiting White Sands on the way. We drove back via Roswell. Riudoso (and NM in general) was probably the best vacation we've ever taken. I'm jealous and wish I could go back to visit more of the state.
Yea its awesome up there. We found a few acres my dad wants to buy (instead of a 401K), its very very nice. Being from DFW, we drive through Roswell everytime we go, its a pretty cool place. They certianly have mooched off the alien theory though
