Hi guy's. I am still trying to slove rough idle issue. It is getting worse.Went to mechanic(not ford). He said my truck probably needs "de carbed".They they clean carbon buildup from intake, egr etc.$69.00 Have any of you heard of this?what is your opinion? Can this be done myself? remember I am not mechanicly knowledgable.Thank You
Rich
my truck is a 2002 f-150 with a 5.4 liter v8,4x4,auto transmision.I have also read posts about i.a.c. is it at the back of engine against firewall? any one have picts and/or detailed instructions?
Is it only rough at an idle? If it is, I would be looking at the EGR valve for being opened up. If it is rough running down the road, has anyone check or cleared codes before posting, if they have cleared codes without telling you, to get a code now, it must go through a drive cycle to gather codes again, then I would suspect ignition coil failures.
Here's a shot...my buddie at work was having the same problems, took it to a mechanic and they found a vacuum line that was burnt through. Now that's as much as I know, he doesn't know where this hose is located, but it was replaced and his truck is running great now...maybe run this scenario to a couple of mechanics...good luck.
