Hello friends I've been standing back here in the corner checking things out since May of last year. In June of 2004 I traded my 2000 Dodge 2500 Quad cab, (my 2nd 5.9 Cummins in 12 years) in on a 2004 Excursion XLT with a 6.0 PSD. I must say that I really had some reservations after reading some of your posts on 6.0 problems, But Ford is #1 in truck sales and International's been building trucks and engines for a long time so I took a chance. After 12 years of problem free diesel driving with Cummins, just oil and filters for 60000 miles on 2 trucks I felt real lucky. Well today my luck went to heck in a hand basket, My Ford has 12600 miles on it with no problems. Untill today when it started surging at a stop light then was unable to run over 10 mpg I just barley got it off the road. I had it towed to the nearest Ford dealer wont know anything till Monday the Ex has a 6/03 engine with the Oct 3 flash Any ideas. almost ready to take the loss and trade.

A question had it run good for you up until now. Any issues at all? I was thinking the throttle position sensor. Ive heard when they go bad the engine will start acting up and will stop. Although they usually dont go out at that low mileage. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I bet you were pretty upset. Hopefully it wont be anyhthing to serious and your back on the road again. Did youmean 10 MPH instead off 10 MPG?
Yes I ment MPH And no problems at all. I think the thing that up sets me the most is that I was feeling real lucky where every one eles crys about mpg I was getting 16 back and forth to work and when I took the family to Texas in August I averaged 19.1 mpg . I love the Ex its my first SUV But I work nights and would hate to break down like I did today at 3:00 am out in no mans land 20 miles from any where

When mine had a little over 10,000 miles on the clock it did almost the same thing while we were in Branson. Would not idle and required throttle to keep it going. However, after getting back on highway it cleared up and we got back home. Took it to dealer and they said EGR was sticking and replaced same. Somewhere around 20,000 miles (but with different flash) similiar situation, very rough idle, quiet to noisy idle, engine noise sounded like surging at cruise (but steady speed); they replaced EBP that time. Transmission overhauled at +25,000 miles.
Currently at +26,000 miles (will have had it a year March 13th!) and running sweet.
