4 speed transmission
I have a 1980 f250 with a 351W and a 4 speed manual transmission. 3rd gear chatters pretty bad in my transmission. I would like to get another tranny from the salvage yard so I have a backup. I don't have time to take it off the road to try to repair it right now. My question is what different years and model trucks could I use the tranny from (without modifications)? Is my transmission specific to the Windsor family of engines? Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure but I think that all the trannys are the same, its only the bell housing that is different in the standards. If not, any tranny from a truck with a 302, 351W or 300I6 will fit for sure regardless of year.
