running 2 batteries
Ok heres the deal
in my 85 f150 i would like to run 2 batteries. Now when i was in high school i seen my teacher add a battery to his truck but it didnt draw from that battery all the time but it still charged at all times. He was able to access that power from the second battery at the flick of a switch. I wish i would have payed more attention to this. Is there a easy way to do this? And at the flick of that switch can i draw from both batteries? I want this for accessories like a whinch and stereo or camper lights etc. etc. etc.
and ideas would be grealty appreaciated.
thanks
josh
It essentially does what you mentioned.
You charge both batteries at the same time.
To Flip a switch for power you would need a switch between the aux battery and a distribution Block (fuse block)or one switch for each circuit running from fuse block.

If i remember correctly my teacher used a solinoid i think i dont remember him buying anything to do this. Is buying a battery isolater the only way to do this?
thanks

It would work like a starter solenoid but, instead of a key to divert power through the solenoid ,you would use a switch.
The switch would actuate the normal *start* feature of the solenoid using small power to actuate Big power until the switch is turned off.
I'm sure you need the isolator with the solenoid to make this work.
BUT, I have been wrong before.
