For those of you who frequent this board, you probably know that I'm not exactly thrilled with my 03 expy given the issues I've had. Get this.
I'm driving home, doing about 75mph when I hear something. I pull over, and listen. I immediately shut off the engine because of a "ticking" noise.
Luckily, I was about 2 miles from my home dealership. I pull in and they listen. Bottom line, the engine is in serious trouble. They are not sure if it is a valve that has gone bad, which will probably lead to a new head or if it is the timing chain coming apart. They will begin tearing in to it on Monday. Either way, I am probably facing anywhere from 1k to 3k in damages as the engine is out of warranty. I was told that if I had driven it another 15 miles, it would have come apart completely.
So, at 52k, my engine is literally coming apart. I have pulled 1 light trailer, changed the fluids as prescibed religiously and this is the thanks I get.
Oh yea, I drove an 05 EB. Guess what, the lousy stinking POS had a vibration in the wheel at 75mph.
I agree TKD, you have had your issues with your Expedition. I really hope you get everything worked out in a timely manor. Sorry for all the troubles you have had. K .Helms
Some '03s do have their issues, but, I have to admit my '03 Eddie Bauer has been nothing but great to me, never stranded me, and runs as strong as the day I got it. It's just the luck of the draw, some people get great, problem-free vehicles, whereas others just wind up with a complete Lemon, like tkd.
Thanks for the sympathy & apology, but unless you were one of the ones actually turning nuts on the build of my truck, I can't blame you and there's no need for an apology.
I had responded, but apparently the post was lost in cyberspace.
Ford didn't really care since the truck was out of warranty. I tried to trade the truck, but the trade in allowance they gave me was a slap in the face. I drove an 05, and the truck's steering wheel started to shake at 72 mph. I turned the truck around and drove it to the dealer. I told the dealer and he said "that's just local road conditions". I then walked away both figuratively and literally.
As for the truck, I sold it as is to carmax and took almost a 7k hit. And now I don't have vehicle. I was lucky the truck made it that far, belching blue smoke.
Will I ever buy another Ford, To put it simply, No. I don't remember the last time I as a consumer bought such and expensive product and had such poor performance and lack of support from the supplier.
I'll still read the forums because I think there is some good info here about towing and general topics.
It won't be a Ford, I promise. To prove how strong I feel, I'm passing on my A plan opportunity because of the recent quality issues I've had. That's how strongly I feel.
