I replaced my IAC valve a few months ago, it corrected a problem I had had with hesitating on cold start after the 1st stop or 2. Now the problem is back. Anyone know what direction to check next? It idles about 750 when this happens. All power is lost during the hesitation, but the car has never died.
Randy,
I have a 95 4.0L Explorer that is acting the same way. I had a Pep Boys mechanic run diagnostics on mine and the computer came up with no error codes at all. What the mechanic did notice is the fuel pump PSI drops to 26 (should be 28-45 PSI) when the idle drops to 750. I'm not sure if the fuel pump is the cause or result of this problem.
I'm looking into the voltage regulator and alternator at this point, but I'm looking for suggestions as well. I'll let you know what I find.
