Bimbo needs help!!!

can anyone tell me if i am getting taken here??
i have a 1990 f150 with a 302 and a aod transmission....the transmission started to slip so i called around and one of the used yards said he had an aod out of a wreck that was rebuilt 6 months before the crash.he gave me a good deal and installed it.it didnt seem right and the truck started to bog down under acceleration and you could feel it slipping real bad.so 1 week later i had another junk transmission. he said he would send it out and have it rebuilt with a new torque converter for an additional cost which i agreed to do....

well a week later here i am.i went to pick up the truck and they claimed it wouldnt go over 30 mph...so i got in it and drove it around the lot and right at 2100-2200 rpms the truck just bogs down and wont like go any faster or shift.if you put the truck in park and rev the engine,it does the same thing....at 2200 rpm the truck just like bogs down...it idles smooth and dosent run rough or mis-fire...just like feels like there is a load on the engine....the catalytic converter is only a year old and it felt like the exhaust flowed good...i switched tanks and it does the same thing,so i dont think its a fuel pump or delivery problem.

the shop just shook their heads and said they need it again to figure it out...would a torque converter cause this problem?? i wonder if they put the old one back in and thought they could get away with it??

i am by myself and dont know anyone with knowledge on this...i think i am getting screwed but not in the way i like!! any help would be appreciated

Well, if you put the truck in park and it bogs down at 2200, it has nothing to do with the torque converter or transmission. It could be alot of things. Fuel filter, coil, tps, computer, timing chain jumped. Is the check engine light on?

I would take the truck to a mechanic and have them check for error codes from the computer and go from there. The problem does sound like it is engine-related, not the trans.

no check engine lite.....fuel filter is less than 1 year old...coil is 1 year old...tps and computer i am unsure...if timing chain jumped,i would think the truck would run real rogh...but its smooth as glass till 2000 rpm.....i guess i will just junk it...1000.00 lesson learned i guess

Exclamation Bogs @ 2,200 RPM after trans work

If the truck bogs down at a specified rpm either fuel starvation or timing is the likely cupprit, removing the possibility that it is related to the torque converter, of course. If it bogs down @ 2,200 rpm static ( in neutral w/no load on the transmission ) it should rule out the transmission. What seems strange is that the truck did not exhibit this tendency until the transmission was replaced. There is every possibility that the fuel delivery lines or some fuel related component was damaged during the transmission replacement as the lines run up the top of the bellhousing also. Before taking it back to the same shop, I'd take the truck to a national chain transmission shop, if I had to limp there at 20mph and have them test the transmission. That would generally be a free evaluation from Cottman, Transmission King, AAMCO or the like. When you remove a transmission, the engine is left to hang on two mounts and can pivot downward at the rear, it can cause fan damage to the radiator or electrical connections can separate if not supported properly. Take a course of action to eliminate: #1 transmission as culprit; #2 Fuel system as culprit; #3 Sensor issue like Throttle position sensor; #4 Take a timing light and with the spout connector intact (first) manipulate the throttle and see if timing adjusts correctly and (second) with spout removed check baseline timing. Start with the above and eliminate the suspects as you go.
