One way to tell for sure is to put a couple of ounces of gasoline down the carb throat and see if it tries to start right away.If it does, see the top of line of this post
Make sure the choke butterfly is activated before you turn the key.
The problem may be in the carb. I have 300 six and had the same problem.
Except it was every freaking morning I had to dump gas in the carb.
Make sure that your timing is correct and the plugs are in good order.
My engine was out a few degrees and there was a fuel leakdown in the carb,
so every morning I was fighting with to get started. This crap alwalys happens when it's -5 degrees and you have no time to screwing wityh stuff.
Rebuilding the carb wouldn't hurt. But replacing it with a 4bbl would be better (I hate the 2s). If it is a flow back problem and it happens all the time, get an electric fuel pump. I have one in my 78 460/4x4 and that thing sits for months at a time. Never had a fuel delivery problem.
You can either use the elec. pump by itself and remove the stock pump, or just put it in line with the stock one.
