"What Would?"
What would - for that I should myself be less than I ought to be
What therefore, could I claim that I had become...
For less than I myself accept, as fitting that a man such as I myself should be..
I cannot! For therein lies the death of the very thing which keepeth me alive
Howso, to put myself at loss, and forever cast my dreams away
DEATH unto my very spirit, that I have payed much attention to
Glowing in my heart - as the light unto my soul;
That my own grandchildren will one day see...
NO!!!
For in that lies corruption! And in it fails the spirit of humankind...
I will it NOT that from my own performance comes such as makes a mire
Of the dreams of all mankind in that such as I myself falter
And thus are done unto hopelessness, as t'were a fate not to be avoided
Hear now, Ye of vile winds! And beware, for mine is the spirit of all mankind!!!
I WILL SURVIVE! And in this will triumph, for that is the inevitable destiny
Of they who have taken LIFE ITSELF into their breast - that we shall live and TRIUMPH
Even when the dust of defeat draws near...
