95 ext. seat question

95 ext. seat question
in my 95 aero the rear (3rd) seat will lay down flat, I have buckets in the center. can anyone tell me what year, model ? that has the center bench that lays down to make a bed. Are ther any differences in the mounting ports in the floor (bench vs buckets) ?

I have a 90 with the buckets and a 91 with the full seats, and I have switch them back and forth, so the mounts on these two are the same. Myself I like the buckets the best, keeps the kids apart better.

The Aero came stock with a second row bench. There was an option for second row Captians chairs which is kind of rare on the extended version. Both middle and rear seats are interchangable with all model years.

I don't know about rare. I had a 91 and currently have a 94 and 96 all extended and all with 4 captian's chairs.
There is a difference that didn't show up until about 92. The 91 and older only had lap belts in the back. Interchange was easy this way. With the sholder belts you can't just swap the captian's chairs and bench. The belt goes from the van up through a ring and then fastens to the bench. The captain's chair on the passenger's side is different. It goes up through the ring and back down and fastens to the wall. You grab it and pull it over to fasten it.
I think you could get an older bench with the lap belts and it would work. To swap in a newer bench and I think you will loose one sholder belt. This has come up before. Try the search and you should be able to find it.

ive never heard of a center bench laying flat backwards.
my 91 had a middle bench that folded and layed forwards, but the middle bench in my 95 does not fold at all. I think its due to the fact that it has built in child safety seats.
I want to trade my middle bench with the built in child safety seats for a pair of grey captains, good luck on that one I hear.
I would also like a lay flat rear seat....

middle captains chairs
TO Koalamazed...there are some national used auto parts listings that have aerostar middle seat captains chairs listed . I'm too new to this site and I'm not allowed to give you the specific one.

Seat Bed
Since I often camp in my Aerostar, the Seat Bed option is one of the best things about this vehicle. I believe it was the standard bench seats on the Eddie Bauer and optional on XL and XLT, I've had Seat Beds since my '90. Underneath, I have a huge box or drawer that will hold a coleman stove, folding charcoal grill, pots, pans, etc. I'm always packed and ready to go
