Is there anyone who sells a cheap one? Seems they're all around $500.

Check motorhaven and then check gauges.com. I've never seen one for that much...

thanks for the help. Found exactly what I was looking for. Should I buy the post turbo or pre turbo? Is there a predrilled installation point?

Pre turbo is more accurate.

Pre Turbo will give you a more accurate temps. No there is not a predrilled location. I installed my in the driverside manifold.

Here is a link to a thread about installing preturbo.

Absolutely pre-turbo. You need to monitor the actual temperature seen in the combustion chamber, not what is passing through turbo. The aluminum pistons will see EGT damage far quicker than the ole' Garret sitting on top. As far as I'm concerned, the turbo is a 100% expendable item; the long block is not.

Take everyone else's advice- call Motorhaven, and install it in the drivers side manifold.

Some one said that when you drill the shaving can get into the turbo? Should I worry about this?

If there is a boss on the left manifold why is everyone drilling and tapping? Just curious.

The " boss" in this case, is mearly a nice flat spot, which is convenient to drill and tap the manifold, not a pre-drilled and tapped hole.

When you drill and tap this, you are working upside down, and 98% of the chips are going to fall in your face, 1% will hit the floor and maybe 1% will somehow manage to not fall down and stay in the manifold. A shop vac will easily pull out any chips which may possibly remain. For extra peace of mind, you can stick a magnet in the hole to help gather up stray chips. Then you can start it up with the hole open for a few seconds to "blow out" any residue. Those extra steps will easily take care of any chips which may remain.

When you drill the pilot hole ( small drill bit ( 1/8" )) just try not to push too hard when you punch through the back side which will also help reduce the chips getting inside the manifold.

Enjoy your guages...
