Has anyone heard that the DVD or TV in the N2 is not going to be able to be used while driving. Not that I would ever do that but just a hypothetical question. I might have heard that you can ground a wire and still be able to see the DVD while driving, in the AVIC-N1. Someone told me the gyro in the unit will now override the grounding and not allow it. Is that also in the new software that will come out. I will not upgrade if that is the case. I like the opprotunity to see a movie if in case I ever needed to while driving.
I hadn't heard about the gyro in the Avic; I didn't know it had one. I have read recently about an accident where the vehicle involved had the DVD-in-motion safety feature disabled and the local prosecuter went after the owner heavily. Don't know what happened. I;ve also heard more stories in general about authorities trying to crack down these defeated saftey systems.
I am currently considering what video system I want to purchase. I actually had a regional/national major electronics store manager tell me he could install a switch with the Avic n1 that if I "accidentally" hit it then the dvd would play up front.
He gets so many ballplayers in the store dropping the big bucks on mobile Direct Tv, dvd, etc. asking for video up front that I think they sometimes do it to compete. But he readily admitted it was a legal issue for them. Something tells me the company heads don't know they are doing this...
Yes it is a legal issue. I will probably put a switch on mine just in case. I have a separate system in the back seat so that is not an issue. I just need to find someone who know if the unit or software upgrade is going to totally stop the watching while driving.
