head gasket
i was just driving down the road with my diff engine just put in truck, and it mad a loud bang, then i had a severe case of blow by, at first i thought it was exhaust, but looked closer and it was a blown head gasket. is their a reason it just up and blew? or is it cause the motor sat for a while and dried up? any info will be appreciated. thanks!

Probably cuz it dried up and cracked the gasket that was used to being wet with coolant and under presure. Stuff like that happens to motors that aint been cranked in a long time. I'd always put new gaskets on a motor that hasnt been used in a long time.

found out why it blew gasket, when i tore it down, next to the number 2 cylinder (302), the lower bolt was finger loose, it happens that who ever replaced the gaskets broke off the bolt in the block and didn't fix it so it became a weak spot and blew, so i got the drill and easy-out and fixed it.
