Anybody have experience with both? After a couple of weeks worth of reading, researching this forum, and googling, I've finally narrowed it down to either the SCMT or the Predator. The sales propaganda for the SCMT shows it to be apparently a little more aggressive, but it's vague on additional features. The Predator's performance data (HP/TRQ) appear to be a little more conservative, but they list a ton of additional features. I'd like to be sure that both "leave no footprint" (especially after the "Sandking" tale of woe), but just as important I'd like to hear from anyone who has run both in the same truck and can give some "experienced" comments.
Thanks in advance for any info you have.
Man... this is ALMOST as bad as the "Which oil is betta?" question
Either one is great for what it does to this engine...
some are firmly entrenched on both sides of the camp....
but get one or the other ans soon...
I chose the first programmer that came out and the one that allows free online updates...
My ole pappy used to say if u can't say nutin good - don't say anything at all about the other...
so I'll leave it at I have some history with the other company but
I LOVE what the predator does to my truck and the dyno curve is in my gallery for all to see...
& 9.5 @ 74 mph for an 8K+ lb daily driver brick on street tires ain't too bad
cuz, i still do not have it....... im runnin around on 35's with the stock 3:73's........
seems, there is never enough extra cash in the budget for a tuner, but there was for two great danes, and all accosciated hardware for em......3k and counting..... but i get no tuner
I just hooked up my SCMT 1704 the power is great, but the thing I love most is the new shifting style. It shifts great, when I hammer on it, it will bang through the gears. When I drive nice, it has nice firm shifts at low RPM's. SCMT Improved the truck big time.
How does these work with EGT's? Do you need to have exhaust to run in the higher performance modes, or can you just buy and use the tuner by itself and be o.k.?
i run the scmt on my 04 psd without any exhaust (but not for too much longer) and when hammered my egt's get up around 1200 but i dont let them get much higher than that, My boost guage is hooked through the map sensor but that will soon change i think, i dont like the way the needle jumps around at high boost, With it hammered the boost will get up around 30 psi and all these numbers are in high performance mode I love my scmt

What do you plan on doing about the needle jumping. Lots of us have complained about this on the 04's, but I haven't seen anyone come up with a fix yet.
I love my SCMT also but i just keep mine on the lowest setting, I guess im scared of hurting my truck and i also love what it has done to the shifting it is so much better than stock.
Simply put, if you want to improve performance, the tuner is the only way to go.
I do not have any experience with the Predator. Lots of folks love them so one must assume they are very comparable to the SCMT. Just get a tuner (Call Motorhaven) and The Grin will take over your face.....
