Larger Fuel Tank

I have a 95 F-150 Standard Cab Short Bed that only has the single rear 18 gal tank. I would like to get a larger tank. One day I was looking in a Trailer Life magazine and found an outfit "Transfer Flow" They offer a 31 gal and 45 gal Replacement Tank That supposidly comes with all mounting hardware sending unit ect. ect. There price is between $857 and $881. I was hoping for something not so pricy and/or see what else is out there. So far I have only found places that sell OE Replacements. Does anybody know where else I can look. And has anybody else done something like this and can tell me what kind of a job it is to replace a fuel tank. Transfer flow did mention there is a fuel line replacement tool had would have to get also.

$800? Bull.

JC Whitney sells larger replacement tanks for half that. Also the broncograveyard, and many other places.

If you search for "33 gal bronco" on e-bay you'll find a guy who sells new tanks for about $300 more or less.

The bronco tank will fit the F-series, however you may or may not have to relocate the spare tire. I got away with it with my crewcab, and I have a 33 gallon rear tank and the factory 19ish gallon side tank (which is leaving this spring also).

Changing the tank out isn't that big of a deal, its just awkward working under the truck. The strap bolts probably will snap, they always have for me whether servicing or replacing a tank. Stuff rusts, yanno? But do yourself a favor and run the tank almost empty (not completely empty as you don't want to have tank grit go into your fuel line), but gasoline weighs about 5lbs a gallon, so 10 gallons of gas in the tank is about 50lbs of additional weight above your face to shift around.

I take tanks out by cutting a 2x8 about the same length (or width) as the tank, putting a floor jack under that, then undoing the bolts. Once its all loose, I grab the 2x8 or the tank with gloved hands, and either my wife or a friend lets the jack down slowly so it doesn't slam on the ground.

Installation is the reverse.
