since my truck has a stock system other than the gutted cats and the drivers manifold is also cracked in 2 or 3 places, i decided to redo the whole system. i was thinking of getting the Hedman 89270 headers. they are 16 gauge and have a 3" collector, i would reduce that to 2.5" then put a y pipe with a 3" outlet to a 3" cat and out the side of the bed at a 45* angle. i have to have a cat for the 2 emissions tests i have left and ohio might make the exempt age higher due to our bad ground-level ozone. i was planning on building the entire system myself with straight pipe and seperate bends all welded together.
any of you know where i can get a universal y pipe (dual 2.5", 3" single)?
how about right angle pipes (2.5")?
how would it sound?
wow, this is going to be an expensive project.
anyone know where the headers would end, how far behind the front of the trans and how far below the trans pan? i would like to know so i could mock up my system.
Yes, the parts can get expensive. For a cheaper route, try looking in junkyards for exhausts from different cars and trucks, then cut them apart and weld together as needed. I have done it a few times when I was experimenting with setups on my truck.
IMO, try fitting the headers loosly around the manifolds on the truck, if you can, to get a ballpark idea of where they end. Best I can think of, or mabye call the manufacturer.
well i dont have anything yet, but would like to know if a straight pipe connected to the header would be over or under or somewhere in the middle of the trans cross member.
