I have Continentals and also got the letter. I am told that Ford is having so many steering wheel nibble and vibration problems, some of which are partially related to tires, that they have extended this warranty. My truck is in the shop for the 4th time, and 3rd set of tires (all of which were road forced balanced). As one person put it on another message board, "It seems more likely that the trucks are messing up the tires than the tires causing problems with the truck." The people who are having vibration problems have a variety of tires, and most people don't have the vibration problem regardless of their tires.

My letter arrived today. I have the upgrade to Michelins on 17" wheels. From all the tires involved, it doesn't sound like a tire problem. I guess that whatever may be the cause of the tire wear is already covered under the 3/36 B2B. Nice of them to take care of the affected parts as well as the cause of the problem-whatever that is. They do love us, each and every 932,000 of us, don't they?
I am going to try and take the truck in for an oil change/tire rotation on Friday. If I have the time to do that, I'll post what the Service Mgr. has to say about it tomorrow.
My dealer has an excellent service area and the guys are pretty straight with me.

NR2D and Anyone who has AT/S's , I am thinking about trading in my BFG'S for Good Year AT/S's.My truck only has 300 mi. on it and Good Year store said they can be traded up to 500 mi. They want $300 difference plus balancing cost? How did AT/S's effect ride and drive.Being LT they might be stiffer? Now , I also would probably lose the new 36mo./36000 mi.tire warranty from Ford?I like the aggressive look of the AT/S.I have the 18 in. Does that price seem in line?

I paid aboout 185 each for mine and I got 5 (included the spare). Get the road hazard warrenty I think it was about $5 - $10/ tire. It saved me on my '02 Super Crew. I had about 50 K on the truck and about 2K on the AT/S's when one of my side walls got slashed by a piece of metal. Didn't cost me a thing to replace it, they were 16" but still.
I found the ride just a tad rougher and the road noise just a little louder but I had no trouble in the 15" snow storm we had in January getting around town to clean my mother - in - law's and daughters driveway and sidewalks. They handle real nice. If you plan on rotating them yourself, be extremely carefull they are very heavy. I have always rotated my Goodyear tires every other oil change, 8000 miles, and when I traded my '02 in I had 60k on the tires and they looked great.
