Got my oil filters and bypass system, and am now ready to change to synthetic. The WalMart by me carries quart bottles of the Mobil1 Truck/Suv for something upwards of 4.50 a quart (wrote it down and now can't find it). They carry gallon jugs of RotellaT for 13.48 (3.37 a quart).
Mobil1 clearly states it is CI-4 rated
RotellaT says it 'exceeds' CH-4
Owners manual says if CI-4 is not available, CH-4 is acceptable.
So, what's my exposure to possible engine damage by using RotellaT? Still planning on changing every 8000 miles or so.
I guess what I'm asking is, what the heck is the difference between CI-4 and CH-4? In 'dummy' terms if possible.
