F-250 head light problems

I have a 1997 F-250 powerstroke diesel. I got just around a year ago and its great but my headlights somtimes just shut off and then turn back on or if I switch from low beam to high beam they will shut off to. But recently they just wont come on at all the bulbs are good because if i pull back the switch to use the high beams they will come on but if i use the light switch they will not.

Could be a short in the switch. Mine would only run on high beams all of a sudden. Thought it was the switch but it turned out both bulbs had the low beams got out at the same time.

I had a similar problem with my '99 i replaced 3 turnsignal/light arm units and it would work ok for a while then came to find my?EGR? was burned out(i dont remember its name but that little frickin black box cost me just south of 500 bucks) all due to the fack that the previous owner had put in some aftermarket headlight that were pullin too many amps through the components i'm speculating so make sure you don't have some aftermarket bulbs
