replacing choke on 85 6cyl
If I replace the choke stat. on my 85 6cyl do I have to do anything special with the coil spring before I install it? Out of the box I have a new spring, a gasket and a new cap, but i'm assuming that the choke spring that is on the truck is under some kind of pressure, and it doesn't make any sense to me that I would be able to just put that new spring in there and let it loose.

Put the spring in the housing relaxed, and orient the housing till the center of the spring lines up with the choke linkage. Put it on, and then while holding the housing against the carb, turn the housing to wind the spring till the mark on the housing lines up with the marks on the casting. You can tell if it's right, because the choke will have some pressure on it and want to close, and should close if you move the throttle open.
