im rewiring a 60' f100 and wondering if it would be easier salvageing and old harness building one myself or do they sell one where can i get it and other than the voltage regulator is there any specils pieces that i would need to build my own harness (i have temp sending unit, gas sending unit and oil pressure sendding unit and all the orginal guages and want to keep the orginal dash and is a 1959 body harness the same as a 60'}

I have made my own wiring harness several times using salvaging OEM harnesses. If you're on a strict budget and have done some wiring before go for it. However, having done both I can tell you that spending the money for an aftermarket harness is money well spent, much easier, and faster. I think I spent a week sorting out the wires in my current project and I could have wired it up in a day using an aftermarket harness. Ten years ago you couldn't touch an aftermarket harness for under $300 and now you can buy one for half that...
I just completed installing an EZWire harness in my 51. I was going to just buy some wire and install my own system. But when I priced a fuse block and the different color/size wires I would need. I just couldn't see any savings over the EZWire harness at $160.00. Glad I went with it, it turn out better than I expected.

I'm doing the same thing to my 1960 F100...A COMPLETE rewiring job! Check out Painless Wiring. They have an 18 volt kit (part # 47-3620) that's awesome!Every wire is numbered, labeled, and color coded. It comes with ALL the hardware you need, and it even has a step-by-step instruction manual with a chart listing each wires origin and end point. All the necessary wires are even terminated to the fuse block already! It costs $400ish, but you get what you pay for. Good luck!
