I am debating on buying a 2005 Explorer now or wait to the 2006 models. I heard a rumor that Ford was going to introduce some changes to the 06 models such as the 300 HP V8 from the Aviator. Can anyone confirm this or heard something diffrent?
Yes I found the info out on the Ford website, they have pictures of the 06 Mountaineer, not to much difference on the body but the 3v 4.6 with 292hp and 300lbs of tq does sound like a nice package. They didn't have any pics of the explorer yet but I'm sure it won't be much different than it is now based on the Mercury, just a face lift. I have the 05 explorer eb with the 4.6 and really like this vehicle, I think I'll wait for the new engine to be out for a couple years to work out the bugs. Also the 06 will offer a 6 speed transmission, should be interesting.
Sounds good. I agree with you about not buying 1st year of that model. The 300 HP V8 has been around (Mustang and Aviator), but the 6 speed tranny is new. Thanks for update.
I'm with BOJO. .. I got over 3K off sticker of $31,+++, AND $6000 rebate, AND $1000 for financing the remaining $2600 with Ford, then turned around and wrote the check to pay it off the first month. Result $31,+++ Ex for $21,+++.
Sounds about the same to me ... maybe a few hundred difference ... not enough to talk about. It was a deal I couldn't refuse, especially when They overallowed for my 01 Dodge Ram 4X4 quad cab. They gave me $18,800 for it and I only paid 22500 for it in 01. Went from 9MPG to 15 in one fell swoop. Truthfully I liked the Dodge better, although the Ex has better power than the 318 in the Dodge, considering the weight difference.
I agree with both of you, I worked out the numbers just now plus I get access to Ford X-Plan through my company, so I could make out about $3,000 better. Tough choice, good deal or do I wait another year betting on that the 06 Explorer was going to have the 300 HP V8. Food for thought. Thanks for input
yes 300 horsepower is good but the ride and power of the v-6 is plenty for me. 300 horse power means very heavy on the foot and tickets are very expensive here in nj. something about a new engine and trans the first year out doesnt rub me the right way but if i could wait till 2007 or 08 when all the bugs are out then that is good.how about a good deal now and trade it in in 2 or 3 years, you will get a good trade value considering the discounts that you have gotten.
last i saw they had 4000$ rebate and 2000$ rebate for financing through ford thats 6000$ and then a dealer discount of at least 10 to 12 % so that is over 10000$ off of list.
my 04 xls sport 4x4 listed for 32000 and i got it for 22000 when all said and done.
