My truck won't get fixed this weekend I pulled out my X-fer case and tore it apart only to find out the bearing had ground a ring into the case itself (DAMN aluminum ) and the annulus gear ground on the locking gear and the stupid plastic melted and shaved it's self to shreads and the chain stretched and the shift fork is worn out. I can go out and spend $200 buck on parts (which I don't have at the moment) and it MIGHT work and if it don't, take it to the 4x4 shop to have them shim it and weld the case. Or I buy a rebuilt case for $400 and guarentee that it work. I don't want to buy a junkyard case cause there's no way to tell what they've been through. I was hoping this was gonna be simple, but I kinda figured this would happen Thanks for listing to me gripe.
Will the heavier type with the gears and not the chain fit? I bet you could buy one of these used with no worries. I don't know all the different descriptions or part nos. Maybe somebody will chime in with some knowledgable advice on if it is possible.
