New Steering Wheel Woes

Installed a new after market steering wheel to replace the POS after market wheel that was on it before and I ran into the following problem.
<o =""></o>
With the new hub tightened all the way down there is still about a 3/8” – 1/2” gap between the wheel and the turn signal collar. I went to Ford and bought the single horn brush I need, $12, and it is about a 1/8” away from contacting the back of the wheel.

The turn signal collar is 1 ¼” thick is this the correct one? I know it has been replaced as it is a completely different color than the rest of the column. Also the turn signal collar and the reducer below it see to be a little on the loose side. They have a little bit of play.

The truck is a ’68 F100 with a 390. Power steering has been added so I guess it could be a problem with the steering shaft being too long.

Any ideas?

Try loosening the mounting bolts at the dash and the clamp outside at the firewall. Sometimes you can close the gap by raising the column up a little. (don't loosen the ragjoint) You will probabley need to readjust the coller on the shaft at the bottom of the steering column to get the slack back out of the lower bearing.
