The FE446 smokes occasionally on startup, when hot. It's just a quick puff, then it's gone.
It may have started after I poured some oil in the VC while it was running. Was that a bad idea? I can't understand how that would be bad....but, that's what I usually get for thinking!
It could also be the last remnants of that rocket fuel from the track. But, it appears to happen only on the passenger side exhaust.
A general rule is : blue smoke =oil; black smoke=fuel(running rich or flooded); white smoke=coolant or water vapor.
There is nothing you could have hurt by pouring the oil in the valve cover with the engine running.
I has overflowed a couple of times recently. But, I don't have an overflow tank and the fan has occasionally not come on when it should. I'm usually watching the gauge and get things shut down.
Flex-a-lite is sending me a new controller for the fan.
I'm not sure I ever re-torqued the head bolts after the reassembly last year......might be an issue. I just hate pulling those rocker shafts. I know it will start tapping if I do that.
I probably need to pull the intake and re-seal it anyway. I'm pretty sure it's leaking oil out the back....
