81 ford... need help

i just bought an 81 ford 150 ranger. It has a 302, cam, high rise intake, holley 600 carb, C6 trans, 9" rearend with a 3:50 posi. I was wanting to lower it for gas milage and to change the stance a bit. I dont want to slam it but i do want maybe a 2 or 3 inch drop in the front and maybe 1 or two in the rear. When its lower it will catch less air, faster times and get better gas milage. The problem is that i cant find a kit for anything that old anywhere, does anybody know where i can find something like that.

Thanks,
Aaron

I've been trying to find out the same thing for my 82. If you have 1 3/4" ball joints then DJM has what you need. I think 81s were 1 5/8" and if that's the case you're out of luck.

Check out truckin.com they have the lowered I-beams for these old fords, plus a lot of other stuff to help you lower your truck correctly.

81's are kingpin, not balljoint. You best bet would be to swap to a later set of I-beams, they will bolt right in.
