Tire Experiences?

Hello all,
I am driving a '99 F150 with the V8 4.6 Liter engine. 2 wheel drive, 4 wheel ABS. I am currently running Michelin LTX P255/70 R16 tires on it. They are at about 75,000 miles, so I've gotten good service out of them.
The Micheins still have some tread on them, and I could probably squeeze beyond 80,000 miles out of them. However, I have been noticing that they are starting to slip a bit on wet streets. Haven't done an aquaplane test (thank goodness!), but I suspect that with the reduced channels in the tires, they are probably going to show reduced aquaplane performance.
I'm looking at buying another set of the same size Michelins or am also considering the Good year Wranglers in the same size and lower price.
Does anyone have any experience with both tires? Tread wear, noise, smoothness of ride, etc? How long do the Goodyears last in practice?

In my opinion you can never go wrong with a set of michelin tires, but remember you get what you pay for. There are a lot of good manufactures out the and tires have come a long way in the last 10 years. I beleive the general consensious on the board is Michelin is a good tire but cost $$$ and there are many cheaper alternatives, cooper, good year, and some imports. On a personal note I've always had great luck with michelin tires and the life of them has always amazed me. A good friend of mine does the maitenance on a fleet of 50 trucks all Super Duty chassis drw (F 350-450) that see 100k a year in intersate driving under full load and pulling a trailer and they typically get 60-80k before they get changed. These are the Michelin LTX MS tires. Prior to that they had some good luck with the Good Year HT tires, but for the money the michelin was better in the long run. But again you'll find something that meets your needs and budget. Keep in mind what you do for most of your driving.

I just put Remington Wide Brute A/W's on my wife's truck. Lot of people up my way run them. So far the ride is smooth, tire is good looking and has 50K mile warantee. Price seemed good for LT265/75 16 (M+S) - $125 per tire out the door. Will see how they perform over time.

Just a thought about M. tires. They are a French product and Goodyear and Cooper are pure American. I think Goodyears are best. If you are ever near San Angelo, Texas, take a look at the Goodyear proving and testing facility.

I ran a set of Goodyear Wrangler GSA's (all-terrains) which were stock on my Jeep. Got 46k miles out of them & the last 3-4k were downright scary. I replaced them with BFG mud terrains & as of now, I have about 53k miles on the BFG's. Typical lifetime of a mud tire is about 30-40k miles. I rotate mine every 6k miles, and I rotate all 5 of them. Granted, a Jeep weighs less than a truck, but I never would have thought I would get 50k+ miles out of mud tires. The BFG's are fairly good in snow, surprisingly good on ice, and just about unstoppable in mud. They also are quieter than most mud tires. If looks matter to you, just putting mud tires on my Jeep made it look a whole lot better.

I have heard Michelins are great tires, but I have found my favorite in the BFG M/T KM. Another fact to remember is that BFG is owned by Michelin, kinda like Ford owning Jaguar...
