I bought a 91 f 150 and it has a 92-96 front clip. It was someones project that never was finished. I have ran across alot of little things here and there. I do have some major light issues. The high beam light on the dash is always on the brights are ok but when u go to dim they are really dull and yellow. The other thing is the front side markers are not connected.
I am going to pull the radiator support out due to rust. So while doing that, I need to know if there is a way to splice in a 92-96 front light harness and hook it with the original 91 harness. Or does anyone that has done this type of conversion have any tips or advice on things to do or change.
Thanks
Doug
I would say, your best bet is to check how he spliced the wiring harness together and start there. IMO I would just cut out all the wiring that he installed and get another harness and splice it in myself. There is nothing worse than inheriting a P/O's gremlins. I have an 87 now and it is terrible what the p/o did to the entire elctrical system. cuts and splices everywhere. hmm..... Good luck, Dave
I did this swap & had the same problems with the hedlights. You can't use the head light socket from the 87-91. you need the socket from a 92-96 & bulb. I removed the pins from my harness & pluged them into the new socket. Remove the red retainer to get at them. Look at the wiring real close on the old and new harness 2 of these wires have to be swapped to make them work with the 9007 blubs. If you try to use the 9005 socket & bulbs in the 92-96 headlight buckets they will not rotate to there proper location If you install the 9005 bulb in the 9007 socket the bulb is wired wrong hence the bright lights indicator on all the time & the lightss real dim.
Hope this helps.
