Grille is fading

On my 96 351W my front grille is starting to fade for some reason but anyway it was orginally black and I was thinking of respraying it chrome or steel wich would look better and I'm going to be airbrushing it on so if any one has any words of caution or advice please responds thanks

I am not sure how different your problem is from the one I had on my 88 grill. The grills are a little different but if you look in my gallery under grill update you can see my solution.

The "chrome" on the grille of my '92 is bubbling and peeling. I've been considering going with a billet grille. Saw some nice ones on eBay for a decent price.
