Hope someone can help! I have 4 LLS but with the air off I am getting a clunking noise from my front shocks. I took a look and it appears that the shocks are not tight. Did not have much time to try to fix for the night but will put the LLS on for the time being. That seems to stop the clunking noise. Does this happen to everyone or are the shocks bad? Bought this used, but by looks the shocks might be original with 79k+. Also, how safe is this? Should I be worried and get it into a shop now or is this something I can do by myself? Not much of a mechanic now days (artificial elbow and knee), just getting old LOL. I do have air tools to help but if it is a tought job I will have it done. Also, what recommendations for front and rear shocks?
I had the same problem on my expy. It appeared like the rubber shock bushings that are on the top of the air shock had dried and shrunk causing slack and a loose/clunking shock. All I did was modify a rubber bushing set I had lying around and mounted them on the shock . I had to make the opening a little larger for the shock to slide thru. this took care of the problem and it has been ok for about a year.
That is exactly what mine looks like, the rubber looks too small. Did you have to replace both rubber parts or just the top? Do you know if there are any rubber replacement parts that you can buy? It looks like that is what I am going to have to do as well. Did you do the job your self and if so, how hard was it to complete. I could hardly get to the top of the shock. Did you have to remove the wheel well? Sorry for all the questions, but I have not had time to buy a repair book yet. Looks like I need to get one ASAP.
