91 Ranger problem

91 Ranger problem - Rough Idiling
Hey Yall,
I have a 91 Ranger XLT and last week my engine light came on. Way before it came on, I noticed that when I came to a stop(enging running), The truck whould idle rough. I replaced the Air Intake control valve and it seemed to work for about a week.
After about a week I noticed some strange things. The rough idling came back and when I would get up to about 60-70mph and let off the gas the RPM guage would drop all the way down to 2 (x100) and the light would come on. If I speed up, the RPM guage would not go past about 2 and a half. It doesn't happen all the time eigther.
It sounds like its running ok (no pings, no loss of power). BUT I know something is wrong when I speed up to 70mph and my rpm don't react. If you ever had that problem or heard of somebody who has, please help me out.
Its a 2wd 2.3L automatic. about 92,00 miles. Thanks.
