Rough Starting

After my truck has been sitting over night it takes awhile to start the next morning. The temperature here is around 50 and my glowplugs are new and cycle great. It cranks over for about 5-7 seconds sometimes longer especially when it was 30 degrees out. After it fires up the engine sounds like crap... it just is barly idling and shaking the whole truck. There is some white smoke that comes out of the tailpipe followed by blue smoke if i rev her up. After a minute or after it warms up everythings fine. If I start it up after it's been sitting only for a few hours it's fine. Starts up fast. But If I let it sit... especially overnight it's more difficult. Seems like it's hard on the starter to do this all the time.

I was wondering if there is air in the fuel system? How can I test this? How do I know when I need to replace my IP pump or injectors? Truck has 205 thousand miles on it. Thanks for the help

There is more than likely air getting into the fuel system somewhere and letting the fuel prime drop. This makes it hard starting. Have you replaced the return caps and o rings? Also check the lift pump to see if it is leaking at the weep hole or an o ring on the fuel feed line from filter to injection pump. There are kits available to replace all the o rings and caps . Try international or an injection shop or some online outfit.
