'85 C4 Transmission Question/Problem

My son and I are rebuilding a 1951 F1 and the prior owner installed what we believe to be a 1967 289 V8 from a Courgar and a 1985, Metric, 14 bolt C4 automatic transmission from a '85 F150.

We just finished replacing the wiring harnes and now have the truck running again ... we did change out the transmission filter, replaced the fluid in the pan and put on a new gasket .... BUT, we don't know the following:

1. Wires: what the three-wire connection on the transmission is ... and what to wire it too.

2. Doesn't shift: if that connection could be why the transmission is very, very slow to shift into forward or reverse and also to shift up between all gears when driving.

Any comments, thoughts, ideas, etc. would be highly appreciated. I know that I should go buy a manual but by now I own so many 1951 manuals and the 1968 manual that I am tapped out!.

Thanks, Richard

You should ask this down in the transmission forum. I believe you have an AOD or E4OD instead on a C4 if it's from an 85 150. Don't run it until you get more info - you can burn up the tranny if you don't have all the connections in place. I'm not an auto tranny guy, can you tell. Good to hear it's a Ford-powered 51 tho!!

Dear MTFlat,

Ahhh ... I never noticed the transmission section way down there!

Thanks, I have added our question to the transmission forum now.
