Instrument Cluster Lens cloudy

What is a good way to polish up the lens for the instrument cluster, it appears that it had gotten dirty and someone scratched the lens trying to clean it, the scratch are not deep but they make the gauges almost impossible to read at night. Also, how many light bulbs are in the back of the cluster? I have a few that a burnt out, but I just want to replace them all while I have the cluster out. One last question, will taking out the cluster affect anything on the electronic speedometer? I dont want to have problems with calibration or mileage readings after I'm done. Thanks in advance.

i found some stuff at a local hardware store, it was in a yellow bottle and called "Scratch out!" and it worked very very well for removing scratches and discoloration of plastic, i used it on my headlights and it took most of the haze out of them, it also made my cluster almost perfectly clear again.

Thanks for the reply, I took the cluster out this afternoon, replaced the bulbs and found some plastic polish made by meguiars at a hardware store. Polished for two hours, not perfect but now I can see all the gauges clearly at night.

I went to the local U-pick this weekend and picked up a perfectly clear one for $3.00.

I have an 88 mustang that had an extremely cloudy lense. I went to Wal-Mart and purchased a $1.00 can of clear coat paint and sprayed the lense, being sure not to run the clear. It looks like a new lense now, I hope this helps.

That will work for a while, but the clear coat will yellow over time. I just went to the local motorcycle shop and bought the stuff that they use to clean their visors and windshields with. Works like a charm!
