Any body else here have any trouble with the backup/ reverse light not working properly?
Mine is working only intermitantly and inconsistantly.
I took it in to have it fixed before 3/36 ran out.
Naturally it wouln't fail while it was in the shop. They crimped the bulb socket and applied dielrctric grease. Needless to say that did not fix it.
What you folks think about this ? I am thinking it is the switch going bad.
Where is the switch on the tranny? I am hoping it is accessable from under the truck. I haven't looked yet.
I haven'thad any problems. Is it both lights (left and right) not working? If so, I'd look to see where the two originate as a single signal and check from there - the backup switch is definitely where I'd start.
Not to hijack but, where is it located ?. I want to tap a power line from the reverse light circuit to use as a trigger source for a relay to add additional back-up lights
I found the switch. Rear of case top right side.
I may have found the problem . The switch was only barely more than finger tight.
I don't know if it simply vibrated loose or was that way from the factory. I only have 32,000 miles on it.
Anyway, I changed both bulbs cleaned the switch contacts and reinstalled the switch.
Dang thing seems to be working now.
One bulb had a bad filament. I could actually get it to work intermitently by shaking it a little while it was on.
I am pretty PO'd at the dealer's service manager and will be having a talk with him today.
