power steering conversion?

Is there a cheap way to go about changing my 64 F-100 4x4 manual steering to power. Could I use the pump, steering box from a different type of truck with my truck. Any help on this is much appreciated. thanks, Ray

Ray, Poke through the archives on this site. Seems there was a conversion conversation for 4x4 trucks a while back. One way would be to move your sheet metal over to a 79 4x4. This may be more that you had planned but it gets you 40 years of technology and the beauty of a 64. Welcome to FTE!

I have seen a few trucks with steering boxs off GM, with GM pumps adapted to the engine. I myself used a Toyota box. with a Ford pump on my 66 F100 4x4, but it is a differant type of truck than your 64. So what I would say is you can do this in diferant ways, just remember to do it the right way and the safe way, don't cut cornners.
