Well, been driving the truck a week now not running to bad still tinkering with the carb though, man them holley 4180's are something!
Anyway my question is what vacuum lines do I really need? I must have 9 miles of vacuum hose's on this thing (84 f150 351W 4v). I took the belt off of the air pump a year ago and really did'nt notice any changes. When tinkering around with it i'll unhook some vacuum lines to see if i notice any changes and most the time i dont. I know i need to keep the ones to control heater valve etc. but what about the other ones? I've got 3 fittings on the intake with lines on them and 3 or 4 spliter type valves with 4 or so lines hooking to them, do i really need all these. I'd just like to keep what i need and do away with the rest, has anyone done that?
MANY THANKS !
-Carl
It depends on what you want to run for emissions...you have vacuum lines to control your smog pump (the ones you disconnected), the EGR, the carbon cannistor, the transmission, the heater controls, the brake booster and the distributor...if you loose your smog stuff, you can bypass the vacuum temp switchs and run vacuum to the heater control, tranny, brake booster, and distributor...make sure you plug any vacuum sources as you remove the lines...and use the timed vacuum port at the base of your carb for the distributor...
