Just bought a 1970 F100 with a 429 frome a friend for $800 and I feel it was agood deal. This will be my first project and I am looking for any advice to begin. At first I just want to get it back on the road (it has set in a field for about a year, but it ran when it was parked.) Later I want to get in to converting the steering and breaks to ps and pb. Any advice of suggestions for getting started will be helpful. Thanks, Travis.
Travis,
Congrats on finding what I'm sure was a good deal. I would love to fall into a deal like that.
I know what its like to find a truck in a field, mine was on an Iowa farm, not moved for three years. New plugs, wires, points, belts, hoses, oil, a carb cleaning, and good washing, my 72 F-350 is goin good. I got 10.5 mpg loaded with appliances and dressers when my family moved to Texarkana. So I have faith in the old trucks.
Oh, be sure to keep an eye on the radiator (mine is in dire need of one now)
But anyway, good luck, happy wrenching.
