HELP !!! 68 f 100
I have a 68 f100 stepside. It had 240, 3 on the tree transmission. I have taken the 240 out and replaced it with a 66 289. Motor is in ok no problem. heres the problem i put the flywheel and cluch in it bolted the OLD bellhousing and transmission up to it..... yeah gettin ready to crank it up and hear it run ....... WRONG i put the starter in turn the key and the starter just spins its not engaging....... i put a 157 teeth 28oz balance flywheel in it. i have tried several diffrent starters i don't know what to do
do i need a diffrent flywheel, bellhousing,

i did a similar swap, i had a 300 six and spd on the column, and put in a 302 and kept the tranny. i had to switch flywheels, the flywheels are different between 8 and 6 cylinders. find a flywheel out of 289-302 around the same year and it should work.

Be carefull! there are two different size flywheel/bellhouseing combos for the v8.
The 289 and 302 both had small or large depending on the vehicle it was put in.
you can see the difference between the two if you look at the gap between the
top starter bolt and block/bell surface area, the small diameter one has no gap
and the large diameter one has about an inch of space there... you also need
the matching tin divider plate for it.
