ok i've calmed down. In the morning it's 28-34 WTS light takes 15-20 sec to go out, wait for volt needle to jump turn the key 6-10 crankes and it fires right up. If it's warm and I shut it off and restart it withing 3 min. blow on it starts up. Let it sit for 5min-8hr cranks & cranks & cranks. once it starts purrs like a big cat. this started back in late DEC. I put new batteries in it in Dec because the starter was slowing down in the morning.
Sounds like the injectors may have slight air leaks that allow air in the lines when she sits for a bit. The wierd part is the morning start...maybe there is more than one issue. Careful on how long you crank&crank&crank...you may be in the market for a new starter if you crank it for more than 15-20 seconds at a whack.
IP Injectors caps Lines O rings are all new with no leaks visable. fuel comes out the shrader (spelled wrong) valve when running.when stopped if I press valveno release of pressure just a sucking of air. I'm inclined to think it could be a possible lift pump. any Ideas are appreciated
Yeah,
You're not supposed to push the schrader valve when the engine is not running, it will let air into the fuel filter. Speaking of fuel filter, when did you last replace it? What is the brand? I would assume that it had been changed when the IP and the other stuff was done, but you never know. Lift pumps are fairly cheap ($15) and if the rest of the fuel system, was changed, you should do this too, just make sure the cam hump is in the up position when you install.
Where did you find a lift pump for $15.00? I got mine at the dealer for $100.00. My hard start prob. was a combination of bad GP's, old batt's and weak starter, replaced all over six mo. period and now she starts and idles fine the second the WTS light goes out. P.S. I never put the pump in yet, how do you tell if the cam lobe is up at removal?, loosen pump and watch for it to pop up?
My schrader valve is always under pressure (as it should be!) even when it has sat for days,if i'ts sucking air then you have an air leak, could be all the way back to the tanks!
Saigon
Got mine @ napa for $15. Ebay had them listed for $9, but I wanted to spend the big bucks. Maybe I shoulda bought 2! And you can stick your finger in the hole (yeehaa!) and tell where the cam is when you pull the old pump.
I had something very simliar happen to me I could drive it in the morning and after work it wouldn't start. If i drover it for awhile it was like i never enen started it in the morning. I would try til the batteries were almost dead. *It was the starter*. It was worn out and wasn't spining fast enough to get the high compression monster started. After I changed it WOW what a diffenece.
