Having 4 wheel drive problems
97 Ford f150 with 4 wheel dash selector ****.
Could not get out of low, I had to take the electric motor off and manually
shieft back to 2 wheel drive.
The 4 wheel light does not come on. with the motor hanging (electric connected) the motor does not move when switch is engaged.
I took the motor apart and cleaned the brushes and every things looks ok in the motor ,but no response. I am trying to determine i have a bad switch or motor.Any one have any trouble shooting tips? Don"t want to buy motor if that not the problem
What MikeB1 said. Check for power at the switch, check fuses both under dash and under hood. If still nothing, then begin tracing wires from the last point that you have power going to the motor. If you have power going to the switch, but not making it to the motor, then trace backwards from the motor. If no power to the switch, then trace back from there to the power source.
