engine compatability

I have a 98 Ranger 4X4 with 3.0 Auto. I need to change or rebuild the motor thats in it, what years will bolt up and plug in to it? I found a 2000 3.0 and was wondering if I could use it in my 98 without too much trouble....Neil

The 2000 should be fine, just use the cpu for the 98 as the 2000 May have pats on it and wouldn't work without the rest of the system.
