HELP ... I'm beginning to loose my mind with this problem ... any ideas??
ALL input and suggestions most welcome ... Hope somebody can help!
There was a recall on the Transfer Case a long time ago. Was that done on your van? Also check all engine and tranny mounts. Sounds like you have a resonance problem somewhere.
By the way, do you have an aluminum rear drive shaft? If not, the recall was not done correctly. Another thing, grab the rear driveshaft at the T/C end and check for looseness. May be the bearing on the rear output shaft is worn. Unlikely, but with 229,000km, you might be there.

Are you getting a CEL, have you pulled codes? Were there codes to tell the shop to replace your coil pack(These usually don't go out unless overheated)? When was the last time you cleaned the intake? The 4.0L is notorious for gumming up and causing accellerating/idling issues. If you search for de-carboning you will get posts on how to do it, very easy.
If you're checking for engine problems, you might try replacing the throttle position sensor. It's only about $30, but they've been known to go out wuite often. And they can cause the problems you mentioned.
